VETERAN actor Eduardo “Eddie” Verchez Garcia has passed away,
according to the Makati Medical Center bulletin. He was 90 years old.
The award-winning actor died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, June
20.
“We join the entire Filipino community in praying for the soul
of Mr. Garcia… We extend our deepest condolences to the Garcia family,” stated
the medical bulletin signed by Dr. Artemio Salvador, division head of the
Patients Relations Department – Quality Management Division of the Makati
Medical Center.
Garcia had been confined at the Makati Medical Center’s
intensive care unit after he collapsed during a taping of GMA 7’s drama series
“Rosang Agimat” last June 8. Doctors said he suffered from neck injury.
GMA Network, in a statement, mourned the passing of Garcia,
whom it called a “movie icon” and “industry pillar.”

Losing senatorial candidate suggest going back to manual counting
“I suggest that we go back to manual counting at the precinct level to do away with malfunctioning VCM (vote counting machines) and SD (secure digital memory) cards and possible manipulation of codes in the SD cards,” he told reporters during a press conference Tuesday.
At present, Alejano–who ran for senator under the opposition’s “Otso Diretso” banner–says vote counting at the precincts is now being done “in private” instead of being open to the public.
This is because the VCMs transmit the votes contained in the ballots electronically, eliminating the need for the manual counting of votes. The country first used this automated process during the 2010 presidential elections.
Reverting to manual counting “provides a way for poll watchers at the precinct level to verify the counting of votes,” according to Alejano.

“Transmission to municipal and national levels will still be done electronically to ensure fast processing,” he pointed out.
Alejano also reckoned that Comelec’s independence should be further strengthened.
“I have filed before House Bill 8410 which delegates the provision of office spaces for its field offices to the Comelec instead of relying on the local government unit (LGU). The independence and fiscal autonomy of Comelec, free from political interference or influence from the LGU, should be ensured,” said the former Marine captain.
Alejano sits on 23rd place based on the partial and unofficial tally of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) as of 10:42 a.m. Tuesday.
He garnered 4,694,571 votes, some 10 million votes below reelectionist senator Nancy Binay who is the last candidate to make it into the Magic 12.
Alejano holds the distinction as the first solon to file a verified impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Many men do not deal with their problems until the situation becomes serious. Many don’t start treatment until they hear out the diagnosis, but that is usually too late. This is followed by a heart attack, stroke or blood clots. Only about 8% survive. In 92% of cases, high cholesterol is the reason for the development of cardiovascular illnesses. Cholesterol settles in blood vessels and therefore puts pressure on the heart. Do you have cholesterol above the norm?Start your treatment today, or your heart pain can get worse and it can be the last thing you will ever feel.
In my opinion, the number one problem is lack of education and information among the nation. Many don’t even know that they have high cholesterol. And those who know usually don’t pay much attention to the problem. What else could we really expect? Doctors don’t talk about this problem too much. We think that if we’re looking good on the outside, we are good on the inside too. However, why do we so often have headaches, loose feelings in our limbs, have unusual blood pressure or an ache around the heart after walking up a couple of stairs? Nobody pays attention to that.
The cause of the majority of heart diseases and blood vessel diseases is the high level of cholesterol. Each day it collects and settles in our blood vessels, which often leads to a tragedy. You can’t feel a blood clot in the leg, and even the doctors have troubles finding one. But in the mean time, around 110 000 people die following this diagnosis, every year.
Such a dangerous illness as hypertension is often caused by a high level of cholesterol. People immediately start using medications for high blood pressure, but usually fail to investigate the causes. The real cause stays unnoticed, the treatment therefore takes years longer and in the better case only smaller complications occur.
We are what we eat. What a quote. It is true, that fast food, GMO and seed oils don’t exactly help our health situation. But with cholesterol, it is a bit more complicated. Usually you can give advice that states that to have our cholesterol in norm, we just need to eat healthy and in regular intervals. In reality, 80% of it is produced by our body, in particular by our livers, kidneys, adrenal glands, pharyngeal glands and intestines. Without cholesterol, not a single cell can be created in our body, it is a vitally important fat. Together with blood, it enters all tissue and if there is too much of it, it collects in blood vessels, “blocks them”, and limits the blood flow. That’s why it’s often called the “bad” cholesterol. It is, in particular, this cholesterol that burdens the functionality of the heart and can lead to stroke, heart attack, atherosclerosis etc.
And also one more cause of high cholesterol – fat on internal organs. It is unavoidable. During vasoconstriction, the blood flow slows down in the entire body, metabolism functions are corrupted and fat starts accumulating. Excess weight can be one of the first indicators of high cholesterol. Don’t look for cause in what you eat, your visage mirrors everything that is happening inside. The body SHOUTS and rings the alarm!
